Can a Resident Have a Dedicated Caregiver?

A resident may accommodate a dedicated caregiver in their apartment at their own expense, following approval from the facility operator. The conditions are that the apartment is suitable for an additional person and the multidisciplinary team has approved this based on medical or functional need.

The resident may appeal the team's decision to the district physician. Adding a caregiver incurs an additional monthly payment of approximately NIS 300–1,000.

A person entitled to nursing care benefit who moves to an assisted living facility providing partial supervision may continue to receive the benefit. It is revoked only if the move is to a nursing wing providing full (24/7) supervision.
